Walking Trail Jägerhof - Paulinzella - Jägerhof (abt 15 km/9.3 miles)
The walking trail leads from our Hotel through the Dritte Tal. There you will enter one of the longest connecting forested areas in the region. The trail takes you to Paulinzella. A monastery ruin will await you there. The Bendictine monestary was founded in the 12th century by the Saxon Aristocrat Lady Pauline. It ranks as one of the most valuable historic buildings of Romanesque architecture. In the adjoining museum you can get detailed information about the history of Paulinzella and its monastery.

 

Pilzsteig (Mushroom Walking Trail)er Pilzsteig

Along the neighbouring village Pennewitz (1 km/0.6 miles) leads the 21 km/13 miles long certified Heilwanderweg (healing walking trail) Pilzsteig. The route takes you from Neustadt am Rennsteig through Altenfeld – Großbreitenbach – Gillersdorf – Möhrenbach – Herschdorf – Pennewitz to Gehren. The Pilzsteig is characterized by the local botanic, historic and area typical features. Interested hikes await informative signs which contain things to know about mushrooms, herbs and their habitat as well as about Bio-Geo-Magnetic, geology and history. The Pilzsteig cuts across areas with specific energy fields which can have a regenerative effects to the human energy field.
